CultureSource has been keeping an eye on four emerging trends impacting the arts sector, and organizing our programmatic response to support our coalition of creative people and cultural organizations.
We recently reassessed the trajectory of these trends and created an updated video message from our team to outline how we are continuing to respond to our sector’s most pressing issues—and the resources available to our membership.
We also recently hosted our spring 2024 Biannual Member Meeting which featured three enriching panel discussions on the latest developments in artist support, arts journalism, and economic development. Check out the short event summaries and key takeaway documents below.
A Conversation About Artists
Creative Capital is a national artist grantmaking organization funding groundbreaking creative work. Its executive director, Christine Kuan, sat with Cézanne Charles (rootoftwo) to discuss opportunities for artists, new grantmaking strategies, as well as forging new cross-sector partnerships to meet evolving artist needs.
Arts Journalism Roundtables
Through a series of roundtables, attendees gained insights on writing press releases, understanding the state of journalism, attracting media coverage, creating an appealing press package, and improving storytelling. Each roundtable was hosted by journalism experts, reporters, and communications specialists.
Economic Growth Through the Arts
Reflecting on the findings of Governor Whitmer’s Growing Michigan Together Council, this panel discussion featured leaders in the arts, philanthropy, and tourism for a conversation about the role of the arts in community and economic development—and ways the cultural sector can garner more support from policymakers.
