CultureSource and the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation are proud to announce 13 artists are recipients of our inaugural Washtenaw Artist Grant program. With a total funding amount of $30,000, each artist will receive $2,307.69 to support their artistic practice.
Focused on advancing racial equity, the Washtenaw Artist Grant program supports artists in Washtenaw County working on either new or existing community-based projects. This grant program seeks to activate the artistic and cultural identity of all people in Washtenaw County and support access to local arts and cultural experiences through its support of artist-led, participatory projects.
As part of CultureSource’s enduring commitment to uplifting voices historically oppressed by privileged, this grant program was designed to support artists who are serving and collaborating with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. By supporting this work, we can help advance cultural competency in our communities by supporting artists and their work that invites the public to learn, grow, and understand cross-cultural differences. All of the funded artists reside in Washtenaw county, and their projects funded by this grant will also take place in the county.
