Tech Expert-in-Residence

Individualized support in tech strategy for your organization

As a part of the Digital Access for the Arts Program, CultureSource is thrilled to announce Jon Riley as our inaugural Tech Expert-in-Residence and to offer this new service for support to arts and cultural organizations in Southeast Michigan.

Now through May 31, our Tech Expert-in-Residence will meet with participants to provide individualized support in ideating, innovating, brainstorming, and strategizing organization’s digital work, while assessing the current capacities and realities of tech-focused work at the organization. Meetings with Jon Riley, our Tech Expert-in-Residence, are free for 2021 CultureSource member organizations.

More about Jon Riley, CultureSource Tech Expert-in-Residence:

Jon‘s expertise spans UX research and design, cybersecurity policy, and technology strategy with a focus on social justice organizations and the NGO sector. In addition to serving as CultureSource’s Tech Expert-in-Residence, he has worked at various nonprofit organizations, serving as leadership through organizational digital transformations. He is attuned to both the technical and social affordances of technology, centering both in his engagement and process. He is the founder and principal of Technology for Art and Cultural Transformation (TACT) and has served a range of clients, locally in Detroit to the international context.

Jon received his Master of Urban Planning and Design and M.S. in Information from the University of Michigan, and is currently working on his PhD in Information. His research focuses on urban computing, the digital divide, and public-private partnerships models of governance.

Jon’s areas of expertise:

  • Intention Diagraming: assessing organizational goals, cost / programmatic value, benefit
  • UX / UI Design: user experience expertise, thinking through problems and coming up with solutions
  • Organizational Technology / Systems Design: thinking through internal systems
  • Cybersecurity: organizational cybersecurity focused on nonprofits
  • Online event organizing: how to make it engaging, monetizing content online
