MCACA Minigrants

In partnership with

Supporting the Arts in Wayne County

CultureSource serves as the regranting agency for the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) Minigrant program in Region 10b, Wayne County. 

Nonprofits and Artists in Wayne County are invited to apply to the following MCACA Minigrants ($500-4,000):

  • Arts Projects Grants – For projects which preserve, produce or present traditional or contemporary arts and culture and/or arts education. 
  • Professional Development Grants – To assist nonprofit arts and cultural organizations and administrators, and artists with opportunities that specifically improve their business management and/or brings the artist or the arts organization to another level artistically.
  • Bus Grants – To offset transportation costs of arts- or culture-related preK-12 field trips
  • Supply GrantsFor arts equipment (including repairs of arts equipment) or supplies being used within the classroom/school setting. Michigan preK-12 teachers in any arts discipline may apply for the grant, including creative writing, dance, film/video, music, visual arts, and theatre.

For Minigrants in Washtenaw, Livingston, or Monroe Counties, contact the Arts Alliance.
For Minigrants in St. Clair, contact the Huron County Economic Development Corp.

Project Grants

Arts Projects

  • Arts Projects Minigrants fund artistic and cultural projects that nonprofit organizations are proposing, which have artistic merit, community impact, and project implementation and management capability
  • Eligible applicants may apply for up to $4,000 for a project taking place during the grant period
  • There are two rounds of funding: August 3, 2021 for projects taking place October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022; and the second opportunity to apply for an Arts Projects Minigrant has a deadline of January 15, 2022 for projects taking place March 1, 2022 through September 30, 2022

PD Grants

Professional Organizational Development

  • Professional Organizational Development (POD) Minigrants fund nonprofit arts and cultural organizations, artists, arts administrators, and arts educators opportunities that specifically improves their management and/or brings the artist or the arts organization to another level artistically or administratively.
  • Eligible applicants may apply for up to $1,500 for a project taking place during the grant period
  • There is at least one round of POD funding: August 3, 2021 for projects taking place October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022; if funding is still available after the first round, the second-round deadline is January 15, 2022 for projects taking place March 1, 2022 through September 30, 2022

Bus Grants

Transportation for School Field Trips

  • Bus Minigrants provide up to $500 for the transportation cost of an arts- or culture-related field trips
  • Applicants must be preK-12 educational institutions, public or non-public schools, private schools, home schools, school districts, intermediate school districts/regional educational service agencies or accredited Head Start programs
  • Field trips must take place between October 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021
  • Grants are made on a reimbursement basis

Supply Grants

Art Equipment and Supplies for Schools

  • Arts Equipment & Supplies Minigrants provide up to $1,500 to pay for schools’ arts equipment (including repairs of arts equipment) or supplies being used within the classroom/school setting. Michigan K-12 teachers in any arts discipline may apply for the grant, including: creative writing, dance, film/video, music, visual arts, and theatre.
  • Applicants must be preK-12 educational institutions, public or non-public schools, private schools, home schools, school districts, intermediate school districts/regional educational service agencies or accredited Head Start programs
  • Purchases and repairs must take place between October 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021
  • Grants are made on a reimbursement basis
